A rock musical will take its audience back to the disco era at Brigham Young University-Idaho on Sept. 17, as it reviews 21 of pop band ABBA's greatest hits. Music will range from the hit "Mamma Mia!" to the ever-popular "Dancing Queen" and will feature costume changes, choreography, a live band, back-up singers and more.
ABBA-Mania has been quoted as the No. 1 ABBA musical production. It was one of the only shows to be invited to perform at the Royal Alexander Theatre in Toronto, where "Mamma Mia!" set the stage.
The Swedish group ABBA was most popular in the 1970s and early 1980s but continues to draw fans on the radio today and is one of the world's best-selling bands. The group has sold more than 375 million records worldwide, making it the fourth best-selling music group in the history of recorded music. Earlier this year ABBA was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
ABBA-Mania will be performed at 7:30 p.m. in the John W. Hart Auditorium. Tickets for the Center Stage Performing Arts Series event are $6 for BYU-Idaho students and $12 for the general public. Tickets may be ordered by phone at 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets.
