Art Rascon is a graduate of the former Ricks College, 1981, Associate of Arts and Sciences. Rascon graduated from Brigham Young University in Communications/Journalism with a Political Science minor in 1985. Rascon served an LDS Mission from1982-1983.
Rascon has been a reporter/journalist since 1985. He is an international journalist who has reported on a wide variety of stories from more than 60 countries. Everything from natural disasters, to civil conflicts, to wars in Iraq, The Middle East, and elsewhere; he has covered a host of stories and has witnessed the resilience and faith of those who turn to God in moments of crisis.
Rascon has been married for 27 years and has six children and three grandchildren. The family has lived in six cities throughout the United States, from Los Angeles, to Miami and several places in between. He currently lives with his lovely wife, Patti, in Houston with their 15-year-old son. Their three oldest children are married and two others are in college.
Rascon’s hobbies include snowboarding, playing racquetball, and running. He has run two marathons and mostly enjoys spending time with his family. His church service includes, primary teacher (his favorite), gospel doctrine instructor, young men’s advisor and president, elder’s quorum president, high priest group leader, high councilor, bishopric counselor, and bishop. He is currently serving as a counselor in the stake presidency.
